The cultural shift of the Flanders Heritage Agency

The organization

The Flanders Heritage Agency is a scientific institution of the Flemish government, responsible for architectural, archaeological, landscape, and maritime heritage. Together with its partners, it helps shape and color Flanders, now and in the future, by making the care for immovable heritage a matter of course for everyone.

The challenges

Greater openness, better contact with citizens, and a transparent policy were the goals of a well-thought-out plan. And they still are, as the change process is in full swing. Walk Your Talk trains all employees of the organization in their cultural shift, collaborative teamwork, and connecting communication with citizens. The training of internal coach-ambassadors anchors the positive effect.

The result

“Walk Your Talk is one of our crucial partners. Connecting communication was first trained within the executive team, then organized for all managers, and is now being rolled out for teams and their leaders. It is an approach that is already bearing fruit in the short term. By the end of 2019, more than a hundred people had completed the basic training. To embed this new organizational culture sustainably, we are working with Walk Your Talk to train ambassadors who will be both experts and frontrunners. Peer review days are also taking place in parallel with the basic and advanced training courses.”
